Well, the liars have been caught red-handed.
As you may know, Elon Musk has been releasing batches of documents revealing what's been going on at Twitter in terms of "content moderation," which really means suppression.
He has been releasing them to journalists Matt Taibbi and Bari Weiss.
The way you can know it's a significant story is that the mainstream press is downplaying or ignoring it.
Twitter's Vijaya Gadde and Kayvon Beykpour, both of whom have since been fired, once stated flatly: "We do not shadow ban.... And we certainly don't shadow ban based on political viewpoints or ideology."
Oh, really? In Weiss's installment yesterday she revealed that Stanford's Jay Bhattacharya, a vocal critic of lockdowns, was placed on a "trends blacklist" to prevent his Tweets from trending:
Talk show host Dan Bongino was hit with a "search blacklist." Charlie Kirk's account was set to "Do Not Amplify."
A Twitter engineer said, "We control visibility quite a bit. And we control the amplification of your content quite a bit. And normal people do not know how much we do."
There's plenty of material, too, on the "Libs of TikTok" Twitter account, which has been punished multiple times for allegedly violating the platform's rules on hate and harassment, but all the account does is post TikTok videos showing leftists, particularly in school settings, behaving in extremely bizarre and disturbing ways.
When someone doxxed the anonymous operator of that account, Twitter didn't mind at all. This doesn't violate our policies, they said.
Deranged.
We're told there's more to come. I already reported on the FBI spook on the Twitter payroll (thanks to previous Twitter leadership) who'd been vetting the documents until Musk fired him.
Lots of people discussing lots of topics had their reach restricted, but one specific conclusion we can draw from all this is: even those scientists who weren't banned outright from the platform were nevertheless muted, which means Twitter contributed, perhaps significantly, to the ridiculous and science-free Covid response in the United States.
Since the censors consider themselves morally superior and entitled to rule, they probably never expected any of this activity to be exposed. But it's happening, and even though it's telling us what we long suspected anyway, there's no substitute for having the proof in black and white.
